Hey, fellow Spartans! I’m Drew Bakenhus, I’m a senior, and this is my first year on the East High Oracle staff. I find myself spending more than enough time at East balancing speech, math competitions, science competitions, and orchestra. As possible, I keep up to date on the latest news in Husker sports. Although not the most talented athlete, I enjoy playing tennis, soccer, and golf as often as I can.

There are some things in life that need no translation: music, art, and dance, for example! Daniel Richter is a German foreign exchange student this year at East. He is a junior this year and is stepping clear out of his comfort zone by taking Dance 101. He’s very excited to meet new people and learn about American cultures starting with dance. Make sure to say ‘Hello’ if you see him around! He’s really looking forward to having a wonderful semester here at East High.

The beginning of a new school year brings new classes and new sports seasons. Softball had their first game last night (rain out), Boys Tennis have their first match tomorrow, and Varsity football takes on Lincoln North Star tomorrow as well.. Be sure to attend and cheer on your Spartans!

Last night, there was a hearty turnout of enthusiastic parents ready to get the scoop on the 2011-2012 school year. Parents were able to attend several different seminars, visit the Spartan Market, and walk their child’s daily schedule. While the parents toured and met a variety of East teachers, students were busy at work in the commons area.
