This Wednesday, a few of my friends and I took on the surprisingly daunting task of seeing Peelander-Z in concert. For those who don’t know, Peelander-Z is a self-proclaimed “Japanese Action Comic Punk band hailing from the Z area of planet Peelander”. They are known for their colorful, Power Ranger-esque costumes and their elaborate stage shows, including elements of audience participation, professional wrestling, and something called “human bowling”. After 69 days trapped in the depths of the underground, 33 miners were finally rescued on Oct. 13th, 2010. Everybody is aware of the miracle that encompassed the entire situation, but some may not know of strenuous work and hardships that went into the process.

For music students, All-State is a supreme honor and distinction. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors from every nook and cranny of Nebraska flocked to audition centers in hopes of qualifying for one of the four All-State groups: Chorus, Orchestra, Band, and Jazz Band.
East will be represented in all of the All-State denominations on November 18-20. Those three days will be filled with long hours of rigorous rehearsals and opportunities to learn from professional musicians. The hard work will culminate in a Lied Center concert.

Following a dominating performance in Manhattan, which put Taylor Martinez among the leaders in the Heisman race, the Huskers returned to Lincoln for a rematch of last years big 12 championship against the Texas Longhorns. Last years game ended with one second put back on the clock after quarterback Colt McCoy threw away a pass and time was run out. The one-second was enough time for the Longhorns to kick a game winning field goal and advance to the National Championship game.
