1) Where are you from?
India
2) What do you teach?
Social studies, each grade level consists of about 200 students, 40 students per classroom. She teaches her students in the English language and they learn about topics equivalent to what our students are learning.
3) What made you want to be an exchange teacher?
To learn about the differences in the two cultures, it’s a once in a lifetime kind of event.
4) How does East compare to your school?
East is more or less the same as Sarada’s school in India. Her school is more so education based as she sees in our school it is more so activity based. She is use to the English language because India is around the British countries. The major difference is the teacher is viewed by the students as a God, when their professor enters a classroom the students rise and wait for the professor to seat them. Once the lesson is over the students rise again and say goodbye. She tends to see less students act up to teachers in India, very few cases students are sent to the principal to be punished. Her students are not allowed to chew gum, eat, or drink in the classroom. Unlike India, East is more free for the students to be apart of. But she says she still doesn’t favor one countries students over the other. “kids are kids everywhere.”
5) What are some major differences in the U.S. compared to your country?
Between the two countries they are relavantly he same. The only difference is the competitions, they don’t necessarily belong in Indias youth.
6) What do you like about East?
She enjoys how free and funny our students are. She says she loves teaching here.
