#2 Papillion LaVista South swept #7 Southwest 3-0 in the first round of the volleyball state playoffs Thursday night at Pershing Auditorium. Led by Husker recruits (and twins) Amber and Kadie Rolfzen, the Titans prevailed 25-19, 25-12, 25-19.

“We didn’t play our best and it was a little disappointing,” said head coach Mary Schropfer, “but we had a great season and don’t let that be the thing you remember.”

Southwest never took the lead in the match but finished the season 27-8. The seniors from this year’s team were Ashley Leitner, Whitney Mason and Miki Freese.

Papillion LaVista South lost to #1 Omaha Marian in the championship game Nov. 14 at the NU Coliseum. Next year the tournament moves away from Lincoln to the Grand Island area.

“We will return 11 players (next season)  that have a lot of experience,” Schropfer said.
