Art of the Vans

This year, North Star Art students participated in a unique contest. According to their website, the Vans Custom Culture Competition, “inspires high school students across the United States to embrace their creativity and draw attention to the importance of art as an integral part of our schools’ focus in the face of shrinking budgets.” Vans sent four pairs of shoes to North Star and 1,499 other high schools across the nation. The month of April is Anti-Bullying Month and many teachers and even some students have tried to increase awareness.
Many of us don’t think of bullying as an issue if we are not directly affected by the taunting. Unfortunately in our society, it is an issue whether we want to believe it or not. Wet. Very wet. A word not necessarily associated with baseball, is the best word to describe this season so far.
In previous, drier years, practice would take place on the baseball or softball fields. This year the majority of practices have taken place in a dark, but dry gym. Although the conditions have not been favorable, the results have.
