Theatre is the number one priority in the busy life of junior Hannah Lehnert. As a new member of the Nebraska Girl’s Shakespeare Company, Lehnert sees the upsides of participating in both acting and technical theatre, which includes building sets, making costumes, and doing hair and make-up for a production. “In theatre, my favorite thing is doing tech and making the sets and props. It’s powerful to see all of your work in the production. But acting is really fun, too,” she said.

Senior Maddi True started painting two years ago, but she is already an accomplished artist. On top of selling a painting she made last year, True is the only student in the third level painting class here at Southeast. Her favorite paint to work with is acrylic, and she admires artists such as Chuck Close and Picasso. She said, “My favorite painting is one I did last semester. It was a self-portrait inspired by Chuck Close. It was a challenge but I enjoyed doing it.”

Sophomore Sam Colwell first got into acting when he joined his friends at the Haymarket theater in 2005, and was in his first performance as Marley in the “Christmas Carol” at age eight.
