From October 30 to November 5, Native American Public Telecommunications(NAPT) has organized the Vision Maker Film Festival for young adults to display their talents in technology. The festival is a collection of short-form videos made by people age 14-21 from anywhere in the United States. Films were to be produced to the topic of “Elder Voices, Youth Choices” -the theme of this year’s festival.
All presentations are free and open to the public.

Lincoln High English instructor Terrence F. Keefe is quite cultured. Like many, Keefe is passionate about music and his heritage. He, however, may very well be more active than most in his participation in both. Keefe plays in several musical collectives, and toured several European countries (Ireland included) last summer. “I play in a band called Donnybrook out of Omaha that is an Irish folk group,” Keefe explains. I also have played for more than thirty years in an Irish group out of Lincoln called Paddywhack.” …

In late August a 17 year old British boy sailed around the world in 9 months. His name was Mike Pertham and he became the youngest person to sail around the world alone and second to do so before he turned 18. Zac Sunderland completed the feat just months before Pertham returned home.
Now the real story begins as the competition builds up. It may not be the most recognized competitive sport but sailing around the world is starting to become a regular feat for young …

Lincoln High’s Fall Show, The Great Easter Egg Hunt, is opening at Irvingdale Middle School while the Ted Sorensen Theatre is under construction. The show, under the direction of Theatre teacher Molly Thomas, features a cast of forty and has began working the show off-site.
Tickets are currently on sale for $5. Perfomances will be on October 15, 16, and 17 at 7 pm at Irvingdale Middle School (22nd and Van Dorn St.).

Kate Mason was an English teacher at Lincoln High. She died from ovarian cancer on September 12, 2007 after she retired. LPS made a memorial arts scholarship dedicated to Ms. Mason in 2008. She was involved on the board of the Lincoln Arts Council. Ms. Mason believed in encouraging creativity in students to help them with their learning. “She was a wacky teacher that was good with kids,” said Media Specialist Paula McClung.
